Good employees should not need instructions for every tiny situation.

But initiative does not mean doing whatever seems convenient.

Strong workplace judgment means recognizing:

what is happening
what matters most
what you know
what you still need to verify
what you are authorized to do
what could go wrong
when another person needs to become involved

By the end of this module, you should be able to:

recognize problems before they become larger
distinguish useful initiative from passivity
identify the actual problem instead of reacting to assumptions
gather enough information before making a decision
distinguish urgent problems from less urgent ones
consider impact and risk
understand personal authority limits
choose reasonable actions from available options
respond appropriately when a manager is unavailable
escalate problems with useful information
anticipate reasonable customer or workplace needs
learn from decisions and improve judgment over time
