Transport, Logistics & Delivery Edition · Module 5
Vehicles, Equipment & Company Property Responsibility
Transport and logistics employees may be trusted with valuable company property.
Examples may include:
- cars
- vans
- trucks
- delivery motorcycles
- vehicle keys
- fuel cards
- work phones
- scanners
- handheld devices
- helmets
- uniforms
- delivery bags
- tools
- access cards
- company documents
Employees may use these items every day.
That familiarity can create a dangerous mindset:
“I use it all the time, so it is basically mine.”
It is not.
Company property may be placed in your custody because your role requires it.
That gives you:
RESPONSIBILITY
not
OWNERSHIP.
Good stewardship means:
- use it for the approved purpose
- protect it reasonably
- do not misuse access
- report problems honestly
- hand it over properly
- do not hide damage
- do not allow unauthorized people to use it
BY THE END OF THIS MODULE, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO:
- distinguish custody from ownership
- use company vehicles only as authorized
- understand the risks of unauthorized passengers and personal trips
- protect keys and access items
- care responsibly for work phones and equipment
- maintain reasonable cleanliness and presentation
- report damage and malfunction promptly
- avoid unauthorized repairs and modifications
- handle lost or stolen property responsibly
- complete clear property handovers
Core Behavior
Use company property only for authorized purposes, protect it while it is entrusted to you, and report problems honestly.
TrueConduct Principle
Access is not ownership.
Remember
If the company gave it to you for work, use it as a work resource.
