Schools Edition · Module 5
COMMUNICATION, TEAMWORK & SCHOOL INFORMATION FLOW
Schools depend on information moving between people.
A teacher may know something that affects:
- front desk
- transport
- administration
- security
- another teacher
- a parent
- a supervisor
A receptionist may receive information that must reach:
- accounts
- a teacher
- the principal
- transport
- admissions
A school can have hardworking employees and still experience serious problems if information does not move reliably.
Common communication failures include:
- assuming someone else informed the right person
- important changes buried in group chats
- verbal instructions changing from person to person
- information reaching teachers but not support staff
- departments working with different versions
- no one knowing whether a discussion became a decision
- messages being passed without ownership or follow-up
Good teamwork does not mean everyone does everything.
It means people understand:
- their responsibility
- who else needs to know
- what should be handed over
- what should be documented
- when to escalate
- how to work across roles
BY THE END OF THIS MODULE, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO:
- communicate important information clearly
- distinguish sending a message from completing communication
- work across roles without unnecessary blame
- use handovers effectively
- distinguish discussion from approved decisions
- use group chats and informal messaging responsibly
- protect sensitive information while still sharing what people need
- escalate important information through the correct route
- manage communication during school changes and disruptions
- contribute to a workplace where teamwork includes ownership and follow-through
Core Behavior
Help the right information reach the right person at the right time.
TrueConduct Principle
Communication is not complete because you said it.
It is complete when the people who need the information can act on it.
Remember
Information should travel with the responsibility.
