Accountability is not about never making mistakes.
It means:
- understanding what you are responsible for
- showing up as expected
- doing what you said you would do
- communicating when something changes
- completing work properly
- reporting problems early
- taking responsibility for your own mistakes
- handing work over properly
- following through
- using initiative without exceeding your authority
By the end of this module, you should be able to:
- explain the difference between responsibility and accountability
- understand why punctuality and attendance affect other people
- communicate early when lateness or absence is unavoidable
- make realistic commitments and meet deadlines
- complete work instead of merely starting it
- report problems before they become crises
- own mistakes without hiding or automatically blaming others
- perform useful handovers
- follow through on promises and unresolved tasks
- take appropriate initiative while respecting authority limits
- understand how clear workplace systems support accountability
