School Owner/Admin Foundations · Module 6
STUDENT & STAFF DIGNITY, PROFESSIONAL BOUNDARIES & SAFE ESCALATION
Schools are workplaces.
They are also environments where adults hold significant responsibility over students and over other employees.
School leaders may need to:
- correct students
- correct staff
- investigate concerns
- enforce standards
- handle complaints
- address misconduct
- protect safety
- manage confidential information
Strong leadership does not require humiliation.
A school can be firm without becoming degrading.
Leadership should also create clear professional boundaries.
Employees should understand:
- appropriate adult-student relationships
- suitable communication channels
- privacy expectations
- when information must be reported
- who receives serious concerns
- what must not remain secret
- when an employee should stop and escalate rather than investigate personally
Staff also need a workplace where legitimate concerns can be raised without fear of revenge.

- protect student dignity while maintaining accountability
- protect staff dignity during correction and supervision
- reduce public humiliation
- define professional adult-student boundaries
- create safe routes for serious concerns
